What’s Growing: Week of 10/26

Greetings farm friends! This week, our fall CSA members will receive tomatoes, salad mix, red giant mustard, broccoli OR pumpkins (whichever you didn’t get last week), carrots, ginger, and sweet potatoes. We have started the curing process on the sweet potatoes, but you might want to let them hang out in a warm place for another week or so, especially if you plan on storing them for any length of time. We encourage you to look up recipes for fresh ginger; it is new to us, and it can be used a little more like a root vegetable than the dried ginger root we get at the store.

This is the final week of our fall CSA, and with the cold weather, also the end of our growing season. We may still have some limited offerings for a few weeks online (to be determined), but this is definitely the last chance for most crops, so it’s a good time to stock up! Our pumpkins and sweet potatoes should be good well into winter, and fresh eggs will keep for a few weeks. While we are sad to see the season come to an earlier-than-expected end, we are also happy that we rescued a huge amount of produce before the snow came! We have a lot to share with you this week, and are also excited to spend our snow days preserving the harvest for ourselves this winter. Thanks for all of your support this year!
